Mumbai: Actress Shamita Shetty strongly hit back at a social media troll who questioned her being single at the age of 47. The actress shared screenshots of the comments on her Instagram story and openly called out the user for making insensitive and patriarchal remarks.
One of the comments targeted her appearance and age, saying that she no longer looked the same as before. Responding to it, Shamita admitted that people naturally change with time and said physical appearance is never permanent. She added that what truly matters to her is being healthy, fit and happy, while remaining grateful for everything life has given her.
The actress became even more upset after another user commented that if she had married “on time,” her children would have been grown up by now. Reacting sharply, Shamita questioned the mentality behind such remarks and asked the troll what exactly he had achieved by getting married. She also criticized the tendency to age-shame single women and target them with outdated, male-centric thinking.
In her response, Shamita asked the user to unfollow her immediately and made it clear that she does not appreciate such comments on her personal life choices.
Shamita Shetty is known for films like Mohabbatein, Zeher, Bewafaa and Cash. She has also appeared in popular reality shows including Bigg Boss 15, Khatron Ke Khiladi 9 and Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 8. Her last screen appearance was in the web show The Tenant.
