Ranchi SSP Reviews Crime Control, Directs Police to Intensify Action Against Criminals

Ranchi: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Ranchi, on Tuesday chaired a high-level review meeting at the police headquarters to assess crime control, law and order, traffic management, and the progress of pending investigations. The meeting was attended by the City, Rural and Traffic Superintendents of Police, all Deputy Superintendents of Police (DSPs), station house officers, and traffic police officials.

During the meeting, the SSP stressed the importance of strengthening police-public relations by ensuring regular interaction with residents at the police station level. Officers were instructed to verify the backgrounds of criminals, anti-social elements, and recently released offenders, while maintaining close surveillance over their activities. The SSP also directed officials to expedite the preparation of surveillance and dossier proposals.

Special emphasis was laid on the prompt disposal of character verification, passport verification, and complaints related to lost mobile phones and bags. The SSP further instructed police teams to intensify operations against chain snatching, illegal arms, drug trafficking, theft, housebreaking, and other organised crimes.

Officials were also directed to strengthen night patrolling, execute pending warrants without delay, speed up court-related procedures, regularly review POCSO cases, and make dedicated efforts to trace missing children and other missing persons at the earliest.

Reiterating the force’s priorities, the SSP said maintaining law and order, controlling crime, and ensuring the safety of citizens remain the police department’s foremost responsibilities. He urged all officers to discharge their duties with professionalism, accountability, sensitivity, and promptness.
