Ranchi, Apr 28: DC Manoj Kumar participated in the media samwad
programme organised at the Kanke Dam side here during which he
elaborated about the achievements made by the fisheries department.
He said that the district administration has tried to change the way
of media interaction and has tried that at places were good work was
being done at that spot interaction with media should be held so that
people are also made aware. The DC said that riverine fish farming
(RFF) was started by the fisheries department at Kanke Dam from
previous year and the scheme was also lauded by the Niti Aayog.
He said that he wanted the people to know about the scheme and added
the RFF can be carried out in rivers where during even summer large
quantity of water is present. He said that by identifying such areas
and carrying out RFF enables 40-50 times more fish production which
enables huge profit for those indulged in this activity and also helps
people become self sufficient.
Mr Kumar said that in wake of the summer season to tide over the water
crisis the district administration in collaboration with the drinking
water and sanitation department is undertaking repair of the hand pumps
and such which can not be repaired are being replaced. He said that so
far 2500 handpumps have been repaired. He said that under Mnrega
Dhobas are being constructed while for skill development an agreement
has been inked with 20 service providers who are providing training in
various fields and said that as part of the scheme students who reside
in far off 40 villages would get training.
The DC said that next month Itki would be declared an ODF block and
said that the ranchi district administration has set a target to make
9 blocks ODF in 2017 for which one lakh toilets would be made and said
that a new system is being implemented for fertilisers distribution.
He said that under the school chalen chalayen abhiyaan 11,000 children
have been identified who would be enrolled ins schools while in
various schools KG classes have been starte for the children. He said
that scholarship among students of class 1 to 10 be done by DBT.
