Raja Peter will be released from jail after six and a half years

Ranchi: Gopal Krishna Patar alias Raja Peter, who was in jail since August 9, 2017 in the murder case of the then Bundu MLA Ramesh Singh Munda, has got bail.

He will come out of jail after about six and a half years. He has got bail from Jharkhand High Court. The division bench headed by Justice Chandrashekhar has granted bail. The court has granted him bail with conditions. Bail has been granted in view of the custody period of Raja Peter and the abundance of witnesses in the trial. 

Earlier, his bail plea had been rejected twice by the High Court and twice by the Supreme Court on the basis of merit. In the hearing held today in the High Court, it was told on behalf of the applicant Raja Peter that the accused has said that he has spent six and a half years in jail.

The number of witnesses in this case is also very high. In such a situation, he should be granted bail. In fact, Raja Peter has been considered the main conspirator in the Ramesh Singh Munda murder case.

In this regard, NIA arrested him on 9 October 2017. King Peter has been in prison ever since. NIA took over this case on 28 June 2017. In this case, NIA has also got the testimony of about five protected witnesses. The murder case of the then Bundu MLA Ramesh Singh Munda has been investigated by many agencies at various levels. Before NIA, CID had also investigated this murder. CID could not succeed in reaching the killer in this case. After this NIA took over the case.

In the same case, King Peter’s bodyguard Sheshnath Singh Kharwar was arrested on 7 October 2017. Naxalite Kundan Pahan has been involved in the murder case. He surrendered before the state police on May 27, 2017.
