Ranchi: On the final day of the monsoon session, the Jharkhand Assembly passed a resolution to confer the Bharat Ratna upon Dishom Guru. The proposal was introduced by Minister Deepak Barua and was unanimously approved by the House.
Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, however, suggested that Vinod Bihari Mahato and Jaipal Singh Munda also played pioneering roles in the creation of Jharkhand and hence their names should also be recommended by the Assembly to the Central Government for the country’s highest civilian honour.
