Babulal Marandi Attacks Government on RIMS-2, University Bill, and Demographic Issues

Ranchi – Leader of Opposition Babulal Marandi, addressing the media on the last day of the Monsoon Assembly Session, mounted a strong criticism of the state government on several key issues. He demanded that the government abandon its plan to construct RIMS-2 in Nagdi, describing the project as unnecessary and contentious. Marandi also appealed for the withdrawal of FIRs filed against protestors who participated in the August 24 demonstration in Nagdi.

Turning to the University Bill, Marandi accused the government of deliberately curtailing the Governor’s powers. He challenged the government’s justification that the Bill follows the Gujarat model, arguing that Jharkhand must first reach Gujarat’s standards of development before emulating its policies.

He further highlighted concerns about demographic changes in the state, urging the government to launch a thorough investigation into the issue. Marandi also criticized the administration for renaming institutions, including Atal Kalanik and certain universities, contending that the focus should instead be on opening new colleges and hospitals rather than altering names.

Finally, Marandi demanded that the Surya Hansda encounter case be handed over to the CBI for investigation, underscoring the need for impartial scrutiny into the incident.
