PMLA court extends bizman’s custody

Ranchi: Journalist-turned-businessman Kamlesh Kumar will remain in custody as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) has been granted an extension for his interrogation. Following the completion of his initial remand period, Kumar was presented in the special court of Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in Ranchi under tight security.

The Special Public Prosecutor, representing the ED, requested an extension of Kumar’s remand to facilitate further questioning. The court has approved an additional four-day remand for Kumar.

The case centres on a land scam investigation. Last month, the ED conducted a raid at Kumar’s residence, where they recovered ₹1 crore in cash and 100 cartridges. Kumar was arrested late on Friday night following the interrogation. The investigation is ongoing as the ED continues to probe the details of the alleged land scam.
