Players are matter of pride for state: Hemant Soren

Ranchi: The Jharkhand Government is committed to promoting sports and sportsmen. Following the orders of the Chief Minister, the senior officials of the state police have issued necessary directions to allow the police jawans to participate in Commonwealth games camp 2022. It will now depend on the performance of the players as to whether they will be able to participate in Commonwealth Games 2022 in Birmingham as part of the lawn balls team or not.

Players of lawn balls from Jharkhand have been selected for participating in the India selection camp to be held in Delhi from March 15. However, players from the police department were not allowed leave to participate in the selection camp despite the fact that Jharkhand bowling association had written a letter to JAP ADG on March 12 asking to give the players three months’ leave. Players are working as constables in the Jharkhand Police from the lawn balls quota.

As soon as information reached Chief Minister Hemant Soren he directed the officials of the police department to take concrete action. He said that players are a matter of pride for the state and the government is committed to provide them opportunities so that they can play for the state and the country.
