Budget Session: MLAs raise issue of non response by officials

Ranchi: During the ongoing Budget Session of the Jharkhand Assembly MLAs cutting across party lines on Tuesday expressed their anguish over the behavior of government officials towards elected representatives.

Ranchi MLA CP Singh was the first to raise the issue and alleged that Ranchi DC had taken a bribe of Rs 3 lakh to issue a license for a revolver. While Congress MLA Anup Singh said that the executive was disrespectful towards the legislature.

He sighted the example of the previous day when the traffic police had stopped the vehicles of the MLAs to ensure pass to ADG Murari Lal Meena at the Raj Bhawan. BJP MLA Neelkanth Singh Munda demanded to pass a condemnation motion against such MLAs. Barkagaon MLA Amba Prasad said that despite being subjected to mistreatment no action has been taken on Deoghar SDM.

Speaker Ravindranath Mahto said that he too was anguished over the attitude of the officials and has decided to write a letter of the matter. The MLAs claimed that neither the officials pick up their calls nor bother to call back.
