Ranchi: Preparations have intensified regarding the conduct of three-tier panchayat elections with a possibility of polls in Jharkhand by the end of 2021 which is likely in December.
In this regard, necessary action from the Panchayati Raj Department has also intensified. Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Minister Alamgir Alam has indicated that elections will be held at the end of December. Minister Alamgir Alam said that preparations are being made for the Panchayat elections in Jharkhand. It is expected that the preparation will be completed by the end of December.
In this regard, the department has been asked to prepare a roadmap. A necessary document is being prepared in this regard in the department. He said that after the roadmap is ready, talks will be held with Chief Minister Hemant Soren in this regard and then further action will be taken.
According to the information, Panchayat elections were to be held in the state in the year 2020 itself, but in view of Covid-19, it was not possible to conduct elections.
In such a situation, an extension of 6 months was given to Panchayati Raj Institutions. But, even after the completion of the period of 6 months, the election could not be conducted. In such a situation, again extension has been given to Panchayati Raj Institutions. This time the extension has been given for the period till the Panchayat elections are held. Under this, Panchayat representatives have been authorized to work under the in-charge system.
