Ranchi: People will get chana dal from the ration shop under the Public Distribution System (PDS). Chana dal is being delivered to the shops from the warehouse. Jharkhand government will provide one kg gram dal per month to the families covered under National Food Security Act and Jharkhand State Food Security Scheme.
More than 65 lakh ration card holding families of the state will benefit from this. The state government has made a provision of about Rs 500 crore in the budget for providing pulses to ration card holders in the current financial year. Beneficiaries will be given one kg gram pulse for one rupee. The pulses received in the month of December will be from the month of September. Beneficiaries can get pulses from their respective PDS shops.
The Food Supply Department has purchased gram from the National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) at the rate of Rs 55 per kg. On this, NAFED has given a rebate of Rs 15 per kg processing amount as subsidy. The government will spend an amount of about Rs 3 crore 57 lakh 50 thousand on the purchase of pulses for one month.
After checking the quality of chana dal, chana dal will be supplied to the shopkeepers of the public distribution system through door step delivery in the warehouses of the State Food Corporation located in the block. Distribution of chana dal will be done through an e-posh machine.
The ration shopkeeper will charge one rupee per kilogram from the beneficiary, which will be the shopkeeper’s commission. Apart from this, the state government will not pay any additional amount to the shopkeepers of the public distribution system.
