Mock drill held in RIMS and Sadar Hospital to assess preparedness for Corona, Banna Gupta himself takes stock of situation

Ranchi: A mock drill was held across the government hospitals in the state including RIMS and Sadar Hospital to assess the preparations to tackle Corona. Health Minister Banna Gupta along with Additional Chief Secretary Health Arun Kumar Singh saw the preparations and the drill at the Sadar Hospital. 

The minister later said that he had come to take stock of the preparations and can now say that not only the hospitals but the entire state is ready to battle covid. He said that there was no need to panic and there was also a sufficient number of ventilators equipped with ICU and oxygen-supported beds and even there was sufficient stock of medicine. The minister said that the doctors have also become highly experienced after tackling the previous two waves.

He said that there are 8 functional RTPCR Labs and 300 true-net machines while there are 19356 beds while the number of ventilator-supported beds was 1456 and ICU beds stood at 1435. During the drill, the Director of the RIMS, Medical Superintendent and other officials of the RIMS had a look at the facilities in the hospital. RIMS Director Kameshwar Prasad after the mock drill said that all the temporary hospitals are functional and as per the need they will be made active.

During the inspection, the bed mattresses and oxygen supply was also looked at. He said that the oxygen ML tank was empty which will be refilled and from that only the supply of oxygen will commence. He said that there was a lack of manpower which the management was trying to sort out. However, he said that at present there are only two patients of Covid in the hospital and the overall situation was under control. 

He assured that neither there ill be a lack of medicines or oxygen and moreover sufficient stock of medicines are in the hospital and if the number of patients increases the quantity of medicine will be also increased. Overall he said that there are 2200 oxygen-supported beds in RIMS while 270 nurses have joined and even the government has given consent to hire staff on outsourcing.

On the other side, there are 800 D Type Jumbo Oxygen Cylinders in RIMS along with 400 small B Type oxygen cylinders and 56,000 KL medical oxygen liquid plant.
