Ranchi: A hearing was held in the Speaker’s court on the petition filed to abolish the assembly membership of Congress MLAs Irfan Ansari, Rajesh Kachhap and Naman Vixal Kongadi. All three MLAs appeared physically during the hearing.
The counsel for the MLAs sought eight weeks’ time from the Speaker to reply. The MLA’s lawyers told the court that the three MLAs are currently in Kolkata. They are required to come to Jharkhand to file their answers.
At the same time, Aalamgir’s lawyer said that the matter should be heard at the earliest. After hearing the arguments of both sides, the Speaker adjourned the proceedings. At present, the next date of hearing has not been given.
All three Congress MLAs were caught with cash in Kolkata. Congress Legislature Party leader Alamgir Aalam had complained against the three in the Speaker’s court and appealed to end their legislature on charges of trying to topple the government by changing the party.
Earlier, a notice was sent to the three MLAs on behalf of the Speaker and their reply was sought. The hearing of the case was also held on September 1, in which the three MLAs did not appear. The MLAs had informed the speaker by mail but in Kolkata, they do not have a mobile and laptop, so they will not be able to appear in the tribunal.
