Ranchi: In absence of rain, the discomfort index across the state is on the rise. Statistics suggested that the discomfort index in most parts of the state reached a punishing 65 degrees, 10 notches above normal, on the back of a westerly wind pattern and moderate relative humidity.
Daltonganj experienced the hottest day of the season with the mercury soaring to around 42 degrees, three notches above normal. Jamshedpur and Chaibasa in West Singhbhum, too, recorded a similar temperature.
Weathermen ruled out any heat wave conditions in the next few days. The local IMD centre in Ranchi recorded a maximum temperature of 37.4 degrees one notch above normal.
