Maoist bandh in Jharkhand gets mixed response

Ranchi : The 24 hours bandh called by the ultras of the CPI (Maoists) got a mixed response as it only impacted vehicular movement and mineral transportation in the state.

In the state capital, Ranchi long-distance buses operating from the state capital to Palamu, Jamshedpur, Gumla, Hazaribagh and Giridih districts were impacted. In wake of the bandh shops and business, establishments remained shut in rural areas of Lohardaga, Khunti, Simdega and Bundu and Tamar areas of Ranchi district.

The bandh also adversely hit the transportation and dispatch of coal and other minerals from the various other districts of the state. Due to the Maoists sponsored bandh the police headquarters had sounded an alert in the state during which the SPs were asked to maintain a special vigil on the prominent roads and railway lines passing through their area.
