Major search and combing operations on in Budha Pahad, bomb explosions heard

Ranchi: A major offensive has been launched by the forces involved in anti-insurgency operations in the state to flush out the Maoists from their safe haven of Budha Pahad. On Friday the surrounding area was shaken by a loud explosion in the forests of Thaliya and Tisia in the Budha Pahar region located on the Jharkhand-Chhattisgarh border.

The area where the blast took place is the pinpoint of Garhwa, Latehar and Chhattisgarh border which created panic among the local villagers. Police sources said that there is information about 40 to 50 Maoists camping in the mountain including Maoist Saurabh who has a reward of 25 lakhs on his head.

From 11 o’clock to 3 o’clock there have been about 35 to 40 explosions in the area which sent the villagers into panic mode. It is being claimed that this was the biggest offensive against the Maoists since 2018. Due to the remoteness of the area, it is not known whether the blast was carried out by the Maoists or the landmines planted by the Maoists were destroyed by the security forces. According to police sources, the security forces are following all the SOPs during the operation.
