Major fire breaks outin CPP Plant in Kathara of Bokaro, no casualties

Bokaro: A major fire broke out in the CPP plant located in Kathara Railway Colony of this district however despite the losses no life was lost in the incident.

The fire was spotted coming from the plant around 1 AM after which GM of CCL Kathara area Mahendra Kumar Punjabi along with other senior personnel of the company and the police team from Kathara OP reached the spot.

Firefighters from Bokaro Thermal, Gomia, Tenughat, and those from CCL’s B and K area and Dhori also rushed to the spot to douse the flames. The team of the CCL Kathara through machines also joined the efforts by pouring chemical mixed water to contain the flames.

However, due to darkness and lack of power supply the fire brigade teams and rescue workers had to toil hard to douse the flames. It took them nearly 6 hours to bring the fire under control. As a precaution power supply in colonies located near the plant was also stopped by the authorities.

The Captive Power Plant located in the Kathara area of the CCL has been shut since 2018-19. The plant had the capacity to produce 10 MW of power. It is being suspected that the fire was caused due to short circuit.
