Ranchi: In a significant administrative development, Governor-cum-Chancellor of the Universities of Jharkhand has appointed two new Vice Chancellors for state universities under the Jharkhand State Universities Act, 2000 (adapted).
Kunul Kandir, currently serving as University Professor at Ranchi University, has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of Sido Kanhu Murmu University (SKMU), Dumka. Her appointment will be effective from the date she assumes charge and will continue at the pleasure of the Chancellor for a term not exceeding three years. The appointment is subject to vigilance clearance from her parent organisation.
Prof. Kandir, who resides in Ranchi, brings extensive academic experience and is expected to play a key role in strengthening higher education in the Santhal Pargana region.
Moreover, Prof. Chandra Bhushan Sharma, currently Professor of Education and Director of the School of Education at Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU), New Delhi, has been appointed as Vice Chancellor of Vinoba Bhave University (VBU), Hazaribagh. He too will serve at the pleasure of the Chancellor for a term not exceeding three years, subject to vigilance clearance from IGNOU.
Both appointments were formally notified by Additional Chief Secretary to Governor, Nitin Madan Kulkarni, on Tuesday. Copies of the notifications have been forwarded to the concerned departments, university authorities, and the University Grants Commission (UGC) in New Delhi.
These appointments come at a time when the state is aiming to enhance academic leadership and governance across its public universities.
