Ranchi: Political temperature soared on Wednesday as BJP state spokesperson Ajay Sah launched a scathing attack on the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) over the press conference addressed by JMM spokesperson Supriyo Bhattacharya. Sah alleged that the JMM failed to send a clear message in support of the Hindu community and instead exhibited signs of appeasement politics.
“The JMM’s press briefing sounded like a script written in Pakistan,” said Sah, accusing the regional party of consistently avoiding a firm stance against Islamic terrorism. He claimed that the JMM has become completely dependent on Muslim vote bank politics and deliberately avoids condemning radical elements.
Referring to recent developments, Sah pointed out that the JMM spokesperson made no comment on the arrest of an alleged jihadi from Bokaro or the inflammatory statements made by a Pakistani general. “Instead of holding terrorists accountable, the JMM blamed the Central Government, which clearly reflects their intention to appease extremist sections,” he said.
He also recalled a previous incident involving the arrest of an Al-Qaeda-linked doctor in Jharkhand, claiming that the JMM had remained silent even then. Sah went on to allege that under JMM governance, the state is rapidly turning into a safe zone for radicalized elements.
Further targeting the state leadership, Sah said, “No minister or top government official paid respects to Manish Ranjan, who was killed in the recent terror attack. The fact that both the Chief Minister and Chief Secretary were out of the country at such a critical time raises serious concerns about the government’s attitude towards terrorism.”
Concluding his statement, Sah accused the government of emboldening leaders like Hafizul Hasan and Irfan Ansari, warning that if such trends continue, Jharkhand could face a situation similar to West Bengal.
