Ranchi: A state-level ‘Save the Constitution’ rally will be organized by the Congress party on May 3 at the Old Vidhan Sabha Ground in Ranchi. Announcing this, Jharkhand Pradesh Congress Committee President Keshav Mahato Kamlesh said that the Constitution and the institutions created under it are facing continuous attacks. However, Congress remains firmly committed to protecting the Constitution.
The rally will mark the launch of a 40-day ‘Save the Constitution’ campaign, during which Congress workers will go door-to-door to educate citizens about their constitutional rights. Kamlesh said the aim is to raise awareness among the public so they can resist the ongoing attempts to undermine constitutional institutions and protect democracy.
Congress Legislature Party leader Pradeep Yadav condemned the recent targeted killings of Hindus in Pahalgam, calling the incident deeply unfortunate. He alleged that terrorists intend to spread communal hatred and weaken national unity. “The Indian government must take strict action,” he added. “The motives of the terrorists and their backers in Pakistan must be foiled.”
Deputy Legislature Party leader Rajesh Kacchap said that there is a growing divide in the country, and to bridge this gap, Rahul Gandhi undertook a nationwide unity march. He emphasized that Congress’s mission is to keep the nation united and ensure it functions according to the Constitution and the rule of law.
The Congress party expressed solidarity with the government in condemning the Pahalgam incident and demanded a thorough investigation to ensure accountability and prevent such incidents in the future. “Congress has paid the price in the past to safeguard the nation and will continue to fight for constitutional values,” Kacchap added.
Former state president Dr. Pradeep Kumar Balmuchu, media in-charge Rakesh Sinha, and other leaders including Satish Paul Mujni, Sonal Shanti, Gajendra Singh, and Jagdish Sahu were also present at the press conference.
