Ranchi: The season of rain is going to stay here for some more time. India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Tuesday hinted at an extended monsoon in Jharkhand this year.
Met department officials said monsoon currents are likely to stay energized till October 20 because of a cyclonic circulation lining up in the Bay of Bengal. This year we are expecting the withdrawal of the monsoon from the state around October 20.
The normal time of withdrawal of monsoon from the state is October 12, said Abhishek Anand, head of Ranchi Met Centre. Normally, the monsoon lasts in Jharkhand till October 10-12. However, this year it is likely to have an extended stay due to the influence of a cyclonic circulation over the Bay of Bengal and Orissa coasts, the MET said
