Ranchi: In a major financial relief for women in Ranchi district ahead of Raksha Bandhan, the August instalment under the Chief Minister Maiya Samman Yojana has been credited directly to the bank accounts of 3,95,692 beneficiaries.
Each eligible woman received ₹2,500 through Aadhaar-based Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT). With this payment, the state government has transferred a total of ₹98 crore 92 lakh 30 thousand to beneficiaries across Ranchi district.
The latest instalment has covered women from various rural blocks as well as urban areas. Kanke recorded 31,620 beneficiaries, followed by the Town Urban area with 26,042, Mandar with 23,008, Silli with 21,335, Bero with 20,620 and Ratu with 20,427 beneficiaries.
The direct transfer is intended to make the payment system faster and more transparent, allowing beneficiaries to receive the money in their bank accounts without having to depend on intermediaries.
Ranchi Deputy Commissioner Manjunath Bhajantri said the scheme is aimed at improving the financial condition of women and helping them move towards greater economic independence. He said the district administration is keeping a close watch on the payment process to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the assistance on time.
Officials are also reviewing the implementation of the scheme regularly so that eligible women who have not received the benefit can be identified and genuine beneficiaries are not left out.
The timing of the payment is particularly significant, as the money has reached the accounts of nearly four lakh women just before Raksha Bandhan. The ₹2,500 assistance can provide some immediate support to families during the festive season and give women greater flexibility in meeting household and personal expenses.
The latest transfer also underlines the administration’s focus on ensuring that welfare assistance reaches beneficiaries directly, with Aadhaar-based DBT being used to minimise delays and improve transparency in the disbursement process.
