Jharkhand High Court directs Water Resources Department to file reply

Ranchi: The public interest litigation of Santosh Kumar Soni against the closure of the Swarnarekha Multipurpose Project by the state government was heard in the Jharkhand High Court on Friday.

During the hearing, the court was told that Rs 6,500 crore has been spent so far on the Golden Line Multipurpose Project.

The land has also been acquired.

Arrangements have also been made for the rehabilitation of the displaced people.

But during this time the state government stopped this project without any reason.

The state government had ordered to stop the work of this scheme in March 2020.

Whereas this scheme would have created employment for thousands of people.

Along with irrigated land, the state was also to be developed from a tourism point of view.

But due to the indifferent attitude of the government, this scheme is in limbo.

In such a situation, the court has directed the state government to file a reply.

The construction company Dilip Buildcon informed that a reply has been filed from their side.

The next hearing of the case will be on 19 January 2024.

Senior advocate Ajit Kumar appeared on behalf of applicant Santosh Kumar Soni.
