Jharkhand geared up for 74th Republic Day celebrations

Ranchi: Jharkhand is all geared up for celebrating the 73rd Republic Day with the main function all set to be organized at Morhabadi Grounds of the state capital on Thursday where Governor Ramesh Bais will hoist the national flag and inspect the parade.

At 9 AM the Governor will unfurl the national flag at Morhabadi Grounds. On the other hand, Chief Minister Hemant Soren will be in Sub-capital Dumka where he will participate in the Republic Day functions to be held at the Police Lines.

The different cabinet ministers of the Jharkhand government will also be participating in the functions in different districts on the day. However, in view of the possible spread of corona, the function will be celebrated with the participation of limited persons with the entry of children and senior citizens prohibited at the venue.

The government has also urged the people to watch the programme virtually. For the Republic Day celebrations, the traffic department has put up special arrangements in the city as per which entry of heavy vehicles has been banned from 6 AM to 10 PM.

On the other hand, the main venue a total of 18 drop gates have been put up from where people having the necessary pass will be allowed to go through. The administration has also fixed parking spots for the vehicles depending on the category of the pass provided to them at the venue.

Meanwhile, the state police headquarters has sounded a high alert in the state with SPs of LWE-infested areas asked to keep a special vigil on the prominent highways and railway tracks passing through the area as they are soft targets for the Maoists.
