Jharkhand Bandh called for 12 hours, demand for education in Santhali Language

Ranchi: Tribal Organizations in the state have started printing books in the Santhali language in Olchiki script. To start teaching this language.

Jharkhand Bandh has been called for several demands including reinstatement of Santhali teachers and giving Santhali language the status of first official language. Their demand is also that a separate Santhali Academy should be formed.

Activists of the organization Olchiki Hul Baisi have blocked the National and State Highways at many places. Its maximum effect was seen in Jamshedpur. Bandh supporters first closed Tata Chaibasa Road in Sundernagar. Tires were burnt in the middle of the road and barricaded with bamboo.

During the bandh on Tuesday morning at around 9:00 a.m. thousands of people of tribal community armed with traditional weapons came on the railway track near Chirugoda railway halt along with Dhol Dhamsa Nagada and completely jammed the railway line. 

Along with this, thousands of workers armed with traditional weapons by burning tires on the road near Chirugoda and placing bamboo on the road near NH 18 road completely stopping the road traffic. A bike rider with a small child is stuck in a jam on the road.

During this, the people who were closing down are also shouting slogans regarding their demands.  A large number of railway police and local administration have also reached the jam site to clear the jam.
