Jamshedpur – In a bid to promote mango cultivation and take local produce to national and international markets, the district administration organized the first-ever Mango Festival and Horticulture Fair 2025 at Dhalbhum Club, Jamshedpur.
Farmers from remote corners of the district participated in the event and showcased their crops in well-organized exhibitions. The event saw the presence of Deputy Commissioner Mr. Karn Satyarthi, Deputy Development Commissioner Mr. Aniket Sachan, and other senior district officials, who interacted with the farmers and appreciated the quality of their produce.
The exhibition featured a wide range of mango varieties including Amrapali, Langda, Himsagar, Fazli, and Dussehri.
During the festival, progressive farmers were felicitated with certificates of appreciation by the Deputy Commissioner, boosting their morale. Among those honored were Dinbandhu Mahato from Bodam, Ashok Mahato from Patmada, Hemant Giri from Musabani, Manendra Nath Mahato from Chakulia, and fruit exporter Abdul Hamid Khan.
This initiative aimed to offer better market opportunities for farmers who were earlier forced to sell their produce at throwaway prices. In addition, training programs will be conducted to help farmers adopt better cultivation practices.
Under the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana, large-scale mango production has taken place in the district, and the district administration is committed to ensuring fair market value for the produce.
