Chaibasa: Delhi Police has arrested IFS Anshuman Rajhans of Jharkhand cadre for raping a girl on the pretext of marriage. Anshuman has been arrested from Sealdah of West Bengal. Anshuman Rajhans, a trainee officer of the Jharkhand cadre of Indian Forest Service (IFS) 2020, is currently posted in Chaibasa. Although he has not contributed to Chaibasa yet.
The victim is an engineer and had filed a case on May 15 at the Rajendra Nagar police station in Delhi. According to the victim, Anshuman had come to Rajendra Nagar in the year 2017 in connection with the preparation of civil services examination. During this, he met a girl who was a resident of Thane. After doing engineering, that girl was also preparing for civil service.
During this, both became good friends and Anshuman made physical relations with the victim on the pretext of marriage. In the year 2018, Anshuman got selected for IRTS. After getting the job, when the victim pressured him to marry her he made an excuse to get married if he got a good rank. In 2020, Anshuman got selected for IFS. The victim alleged that after this the accused married her in the temple, but did not allow the wedding photo to be taken. Later he reneged on the promise of having a social or registered marriage.
After this, the victim reached the police station and filed a case. Anshuman Rajhans is the second All India Service officer of the Jharkhand cadre to be arrested in the case of physical abuse within the last two days. On July 5, Khunti SDM Syed Ahmed Riaz was arrested and sent to jail by the police in connection with the physical abuse of an IIT student.
After the arrest warrant of forest officer, Anshuman Rajhans was issued, a team was constituted under the supervision of ACP Vidushi Kaushik of Karol Bagh police station in Delhi. When the Delhi Police team reached Ranchi on the information of the accused being in Ranchi, it came to know that he is in Jamshedpur.
Anshuman switched off his phone after getting information about the registration of the case. Then the police found his location in Asansol. He kept hiding for about 15 days. The police found his location in seven cities.
