IAS Manish Ranjan reaches ED office, questioned for the second time in tender commission scam case

Ranchi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) is investigating the tender commission scam case in Jharkhand.

IAS Manish Ranjan reached the ED office on Monday regarding this matter.

After which ED officials started interrogating him.

Earlier on May 28 also, Manish Ranjan had reached the ED office on the summons of ED.

ED officials had interrogated Manish Ranjan for about eight hours in the tender commission scam case.

On May 6, ED had raided the premises of Minister Alamgir Alam’s PS Sanjeev Lal and his servant Jahangir.

During this period, ED got hold of many documents from the flat of both of them.

ED has also received an excel sheet, which contains complete details of the people to whom the commission amount was allegedly going.

Manish Ranjan’s name was also on this seat.

On the basis of the same, ED had issued summons to Manish Ranjan on May 22 and called him for questioning at the ED regional office in Ranchi on May 24 at 11 am.

But he did not appear before the ED.

After this, ED sent a second summons to Manish Ranjan on 25th May and called him for questioning on 28th May.

During an eight-hour long interrogation on 28th, ED asked Manish Ranjan many questions and answers regarding the commission.

But he expressed his ignorance on all these questions.

ED also made him sit in front of Minister Alamgir Alam and asked him many questions.

But both of them remained silent on ED’s questions.

Manish Ranjan, former secretary of the Rural Development Department of Jharkhand and currently posted as Revenue Secretary in the state, is collecting information about the property and investments of Jahangir Alam along with Sanjeev Lal, OSD of former minister Alamgir Alam.

ED has so far received information that three properties have been purchased in the name of Manish Ranjan, his wife and family members only in Ranchi district.

The property that Manish Ranjan has purchased in the name of his wife and family members is a flat and land.

A property has been purchased only last year, which is worth lakhs.

The price of one property is more than Rs 95 lakh.

Besides, ED has also received information about investment in the name of Minister Alamgir Alam’s OSD Sanjeev Lal and his wife.

ED has so far arrested department minister Alamgir Alam, PS Sanjeev Lal, Jahangir Alam, Chief Engineer Birendra Ram, CA Mukesh Mittal and others in the money laundering case related to the tender scam.

ED had arrested Alamgir Alam on May 15 after interrogating him for two consecutive days.

After the arrest of many people associated with the Rural Development Department, ED has got a lot of evidence, due to which new revelations are continuously being made.

ED’s investigation has revealed that everyone from officers to ministers used to take commission in the tenders of the Rural Development Department.
