High Court bans appointment process of 26000 assistant teachers, seeks response from JSSC

Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court has put a stay on the ongoing process for the appointment of 26000 assistant teachers (Acharya) in the state. The court has given order while hearing the petition challenging the 50% reservation given to para teachers in the Assistant Teacher Appointment Rules.

In Jharkhand, the appointment process of 26 thousand assistant teachers through JSSC has been stayed . A petition was filed regarding not giving 50 percent reservation to BRPCRP in this appointment process. Hearing regarding this petition took place on Tuesday. The court has made JSSC a defendant in the hearing. Notice has also been issued. In this matter, the court has asked the state government, Jharkhand Education Project Council and Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission to reply within four weeks. 

Today’s hearing was held in the division bench headed by High Court Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra. Advocate Amit Kumar Tiwari appeared on behalf of the applicant. Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission has issued advertisement for the appointment of Assistant teacher .

The state government has made a new rule for this appointment. This is called Assistant Achrya Appointment Rules 2023. In this amended rule, now there is a provision to give 50% reservation in the appointment of Assistant Acharya only to para teachers. Those employees who are working in the education department on contract do not come under this scope. 

According to the petition filed, when Assistant Achayrya Appointment Rules 2022 came into force, instead of giving reservation only to para teachers, all the employees who were working on contract in the Education Department were included in this scope. The High Court has been approached regarding this matter. Candidates could apply for 26,001 Assistant Acharya posts in Jharkhand from August 16 to September 15 midnight. 

According to the notification of JSSC, its examination fee would have to be deposited by the midnight of 17th September. Photograph and signature have been asked to be uploaded by the midnight of 19th September. The process of amendment in the online application form will be from September 21 to September 23 midnight. Now after the ban, we will have to wait for the order of the court.

For the first time, 26,001 assistant Achayrya will be appointed simultaneously. In this, 12,868 posts have been reserved for para teachers and 13,133 posts for nonpara teachers. 5469 posts have been reserved for para teachers and 5531 posts for non-para teachers in the appointment of intermediate trained assistant professors for classes I to V.

Language for para teachers in the appointment of graduate trained assistant teachers for classes VI to VIII. 7399 posts have been reserved for social science and sciencemathematics subjects and 7602 posts have been reserved for non-para teachers.
