Hearing on Lalu Yadav’s bail plea deferred, next date on April 8

Ranchi: A hearing was on Friday deferred in the Jharkhand High Court over the bail petition of jailed former Bihar Chief Minister and RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav in the Doranda Treasury Case of the Fodder Scam.

The court has fixed April 8 as the next date for a hearing in the case. The lawyers of Lalu Yadav had sought bail citing his poor health conditions. Lalu Yadav who is in jail since February 14 was initially admitted at RIMS Ranchi but as his health conditions declined he was referred to AIIMS New Delhi.

In the previous hearing held in the matter the court of Justice Apresh Kumar Singh had directed to get records from the lower court and had also directed the CBI to file its response for the bail petition of Lalu Yadav.

On March 4 the court had directed the lawyers of Lalu Yadav to refile their petition as it had some mistakes.

In case number RC 47A/96 which is related to fraudulent withdrawal of Rs 139.35 crore a special CBI court had held a total of 40 accused including Lalu Yadav guilty. On February 21 the court had awarded five years of rigorous imprisonment to Lalu Yadav in the case and had also imposed a fine of Rs 60 lakh.
