Doctors in Jharkhand to boycott work on Saturday over death of Dr Archana

Ranchi: Protesting against the death of Dr Archana doctors in Jharkhand will be boycotting work on Saturday for 12 hours.

The doctors will boycott the work from 7 AM to 7 PM on Saturday. Hailing from Ranchi Dr Archana had completed her MBBS in 1998 from RIMS Ranchi in Gynaecology and was a gold medalist. Her father use to work in HEC while another sister is also a doctor.

Dr Archana was posted as a doctor in a hospital in the Dausa district of Rajasthan. During the course of treatment, a pregnant woman had died on April 18 after which the relatives of the deceased had registered a murder case against Dr Archana and her husband who also happens to be a doctor.

Post that fir the doctor had gone into depression and later she committed suicide in her residence. In her suicide note Dr Archana had written that bleeding is normal during giving birth for which the doctor should not be held responsible nor should they be exploited over the issue. She had further written that maybe after her death people will get proof of her innocence and had requested that her husband and children be not troubled.

Many organisations in the state including IMA, AHPI, RIMS Junior Doctor Association, etc had raised their voices. On Friday these organisations had also taken out a candle March in the capital demanding justice for the doctor.
