Hearing on former CM Hemant Soren’s petition held in Jharkhand High Court, ED asked for time

Ranchi: Hemant Soren’s petition was heard in the Jharkhand High Court on Monday. ED has sought time to file a consolidated reply in this case. Now the court has fixed February 27 for the next hearing and final disposal of the case. A petition has been filed in the court on behalf of Hemant Soren challenging the ED action.

Hemant Soren’s petition was heard in the Jharkhand High Court on 5 February. During that time Hemant Soren did not get any relief from the court. The court ordered the ED to file its reply by February 9 and fixed February 12 as the next date of hearing. Even before being taken into custody, Hemant Soren had filed a petition in the High Court and expressed the fear of arrest.

He had requested the court that no coercive action should be taken against him during interrogation. But on February 1, he sought time from the High Court saying that Hemant Soren has been arrested and he has filed a petition against it in the Supreme Court. 

The ED had expressed objection to the filing of the petition to withdraw the petition and requested to file a reply. On February 2, Hemant Soren had challenged the ED’s action regarding his arrest in the Supreme Court. But the top court had directed to go to the High Court first. After this Hemant Soren had filed an intervention petition in the High Court. The hearing was held on 5th February. On the same day, the High Court had given time till February 9 to the ED to file its reply.
