HC order: Employees appointed in 2008 to get benefits of old pension scheme

Ranchi: Jharkhand High Court, while hearing a case, has ordered that the employee who was appointed before the year 2004, should be given the benefit of the old pension scheme.

In fact, eight other employees including Vinod Toppo, posted as a driver in Koderma Civil Court, had filed a petition in the High Court. In the petition, he had challenged the notification of the Personnel Department in the year 2021, in which it was said that he would be deprived of the old pension scheme.

But during the hearing, the applicants’ advocate Subhashish Rasik Soren told the court that an advertisement was issued in the year 2001 for appointment to the post of vehicle driver. After completion of the recruitment process, the result of the driver appointment examination was released in the year 2004. But he was appointed in 2008.

The hearing of this case took place in the court of High Court judge Justice Dr SN Pathak. Advocate Chaitali Chatterjee presented the case on behalf of the state government.
