Ranchi: In a major decision the Jharkhand High Court on Wednesday maintained the decision of the single bench of cancelling the results of the 6th JPSC exam. The court cancelled the petition of the candidates who had requested the double bench to consider the matter. The decision of the court has come as a major setback to the 326 successful candidates.
The single bench had rejected the merit list of the 6th JPSC Exams and had declared the appointments invalid. Some of the candidates later filed an appeal before the double bench. The double bench of Chief Justice Dr Ravi Ranjan and Justice SN Prasad had completed the hearing in the case and had kept its order reserved. On Wednesday the court announced its verdict in the case.
The Single bench had been directed to cancel the merit list of 6th JPSC and had instructed to come out with a revised list. The court said that in paper one the candidates had to secure only qualifying marks in Paper One but the JPSC had used the numbers to calculate the overall marks.
The government had said in the court that it was willing to follow the orders of the court. The successful candidates contended that the results were correct and there was nothing wrong with it. At the end of the 6th JPSC exam 326 candidates were declared successful and they are currently serving in various posts in different districts
