Grand Shobha Yatra, cultural programme on Mahavir Jayanti in Doranda

Ranchi: A grand celebration marked the auspicious occasion of Mahavir Jayanti at the Shwetambar Jain Temple in Doranda on Thursday. The event began with the traditional snatra puja of Lord Mahavir, followed by a vibrant shobha yatra (religious procession) that passed through Tulsi Chowk, Jhanda Chowk, Shriram-Bharat Milap Office, Neelam Complex, and the High Court before returning to the temple premises.

Devotees and various local organizations welcomed the procession with great enthusiasm, transforming the entire Doranda area into an atmosphere of devotion and celebration.

After the return of the procession, Lord Mahavir was ceremoniously re-seated in the temple. This was followed by colourful cultural performances by children and women, with a special highlight being a dramatic play depicting the life and principles of Lord Mahavir.

Vinay Nahta impressed the audience with his powerful portrayal of Lord Mahavir, supported by Nikhil Bothra, Priyanka Jain, Ansula Sethia, Nirvan Jain, Chirag Jain, Sanjay Kothari, Akshay Jain, Rakesh Kothari, Riddhi Jain, Khushboo Jain, Khushi Kothari, and Shruti Jain. The play was skillfully hosted by Sonal Nahta.

The atmosphere resonated with devotional songs, including soulful bhajans by Akshay Jain (“Mahavir ke sharan mein sab kuch hai milta…”) and Prakash Nahta (“Mahavir kahun ya Mahavir, tera naam rahega jag mein…”). Women added grace to the event with expressive dance performances set to devotional tunes.

The celebration concluded with the distribution of prasadam among devotees, marking the end of a spiritually enriching day.
