Ranchi: Former chairman of Jharkhand Public Service Commission and ex- IPS Amitabh Choudhary was cremated with state honours at Harmu Muktidham in the capital on Wednesday. Chief Minister Hemant Soren himself participated in the last rites of the veteran cricket administrator.
The Chief Minister paid his floral tributes to the departed and prayed to the almighty to give strength to his family members to overcome the burden of grief. He also interacted with his wife, son and daughter and consoled them and expressed his solidarity with the well-wishers and supporters of late Amitabh Choudhary.
Cabinet Minister Mithlesh Thakur, Rajya Sabha MP Mahua Majhi, JPCC Chief Rajesh Thakur, MLA Biranchi Narayan and others were also present on the occasion. Amitabh Choudhary had died on Tuesday following a cardiac arrest which he sustained during morning walk inside his house. He was rushed to a city hospital but could not be saved.
Earlier on Wednesday, his body was brought to JSCA where people from different walks of life paid their last tributes to the man instrumental in giving Ranchi one of the most modern cricket stadiums in the country and bringing it on the cricketing map of the world.
