Former Agri Min accuses of scam in seed purchase & distribution

Ranchi, Former Agriculture Minister and BJP MLA Randhir Singh on Thursday alleged of a big scam in the purchase and distribution of seeds in the state.

Addressing a press conference here at the state BJP headquarters here he said that the state government had made a provision of Rs 15 crore in the budget for purchase and distribution of seeds in the state after which a work order of Rs 16.73 crore was given.

He said that every one is aware regarding the real condition of seed distribution in the state and demanded for a probe in the irregularities. He said that many schemes which were started in the previous government for development of Agriculture, animal husbandry, dairy, fisheries have been stopped by the present state government.

Randhir Singh said that the state government had made fake promise of loan wavier and now the farmers are running after the banks. He said that the state government was  patting its own  back on false promises.

The Sarath MLA said that the bankers are saying that loan of only one member of a family will be wavied off and such farmers whose accounts have become NPA they will not be eligible for loan wavier. He said that according to SLBC 6 lakh farmers have loans on their heads.

He alleged that the state government has also failed in the area of paddy procurement as in 260 blocks only 398 paddy procurement centres have been opened but there was a need to open 520 paddy procurement centres.  He claimed that since the entire process of paddy procurement has been made complex by the state government therefore the farmers were selling their produce on throw away prices to the middlemen.
