First Fly Ash Rake Dispatched from PVUNL Patratu

Patratu (Ramgarh): PVUNL Patratu on May 22, 2026 dispatched its first fly ash rake carrying 4,000 tonnes of fly ash to M/s Star Cement, Tetelia (Assam). The destination is located around 1,243 kilometres from Patratu.

Notably, the same rake that had arrived at PVUNL carrying coal was utilised for transporting fly ash through back-loading, setting an example of efficient resource utilisation. On this historic occasion, PVUNL Chief Executive Officer A.K. Sehgal flagged off the rake.

Senior officials of PVUNL, including Anupam Mukherjee, CGM (Project), Manish Kheterpal, GM (O&M), Om Prakash Solanki, GM (Maintenance & Administration), along with representatives of Star Cement, were present during the event.

This initiative by PVUNL is being considered an important step towards sustainable development and reducing carbon footprint. Transportation of 4,000 tonnes of fly ash through the rail rake has helped save nearly 15,000 litres of diesel, which would otherwise have been consumed in transporting the ash to disposal sites.

The move is expected to ensure significant savings in energy resources while also contributing to environmental conservation.
