FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier, Italy beats Chile in shootout

Ranchi:  The competition for the 5th to 8th place in the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifier started on Thursday. The first match was played between Italy and Chile. In which Italy defeated Chile 2-1 in the shootout. In the beginning Chile played an aggressive game.

In the 13th minute of the first quarter, Chile’s Fernanda Tala penetrated Italy’s defense and scored a field goal to take a 1-0 lead. Italy retaliated and tried to bring the match in its favor by scoring two consecutive goals. The first goal (field goal) for Italy was scored by Antonella Bruni in the 20th minute.

And in the 24th minute, Federica Carta scored a goal, overcoming Chile’s defense. Chile’s Paula Valdivia scored a brilliant field goal in the 53rd minute of the match to level the score at 2-2. After a 2-2 draw at the stipulated time, a shootout was played. In which Chile won the match by scoring 1 goal and Italy by scoring 2 goals.
