Elephant tramples voter to death on his way to vote

Ranchi: Despite the instructions of the Election Commission, the Forest Department was not ready.

Due to the negligence of the forest department, an elephant took the life of a voter on Saturday.

On Saturday morning, village head Surendranath Hansda (65) of Gobarabani village under Mutturkham Panchayat of Baharagora block of East Singhbhum died in an elephant attack on Saturday morning.

According to the villagers, he was going to the polling station at Dholabeda through the forest to vote in the morning.

During this time an elephant attacked him and killed him.

The State Election Commission had directed the Forest Department of Jharkhand to protect voters from wild animals on the day of voting.

The State Election Commission had given such instructions to the Forest Department for the first time and had said that wild animals keep roaming in the forest areas of many Lok Sabha constituencies of the state. Keep a special eye on this.

While giving instructions, it was also said that trained employees of the Forest Department should be deployed in such areas.

If there is movement of wild elephants or other wild animals during voting, then voters and polling personnel can be provided security.

The Forest Department had also said that people will also be made aware by the employees.

They will be told that voters should not go alone through the forest area and should take some people along with them.

If you get information about the arrival of an elephant anywhere, then also use the Elephant Alert app.

Besides, the security personnel deployed will also be given information from time to time by the Forest Department employees.
