Durga Puja – Energy Department issued guidelines

Ranchi:  Electricity is used in the pandals built during Durga Puja, Diwali and Chhath Puja.

The Energy Department has given instructions to earth the electrical equipment in all circumstances.

In this regard, Senior Electrical Inspector of the Energy Department, Vijay Kumar Sinha has issued a guideline.

What is in the guidelines:

  • Provide electricity in pandals only after getting permission from JBVNL and approval of load
  • Do the electrification work only after taking formal temporary connection.
  • Make proper arrangements for earthing in the pandals.
  • It is necessary to construct at least two earth pits in each pandal.
  • The electricity control panel should be made at such a place where there is no crowd of devotees and the electricians can move easily.
  • Also display the board of the electrical control room.
  • Install the generator as per the rules.
  • Use main switch and switch over switch of appropriate capacity.
  • Use the size of wires according to the load.
  • Do not under any circumstances use under-sized wire.
  • Keep the switch board and wires out of the reach of children.
  • Keep the pandal and gate away from the overhead line.
  • Provide rubber mat, fire extinguisher, filled with dry sand in the electricity control room.
  • It is mandatory to have bucket, shock treatment chart, and standard danger board and rubber hand gloves.
  • Do not use cut wires.
  • Separate doors should be made for entry and exit in the pandal premises.
  • Get the electrification work done by a licensed person only.
  • Get the work done only by a recognized contractor and always have a licensed electrical supervisor.
