District Administration inspected hotels and restaurants for adulterated food and sweets, notice issued to 11

Ranchi: In view of Holi festival, the district administration is on alert regarding adulterated food items in Ranchi. A checking campaign against adulterated food items is being conducted in the urban areas for the last three days, which will continue till Holi.

As per the instructions of Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Ranchi Utkarsh Kumar, the team under the leadership of Food Safety Officer and with the help of the concerned police station area, inspected various hotels, restaurants and sweet shops of the city on 20, 21 and 22 March 2024 and conducted sample testing.

The team tested a total of 168 food samples in various sweet shops, restaurants in three days with the mobile food testing lab. In which notice was given to 13 establishments that failed in the investigation. 

On March 20, the team inspected various sweet shops and restaurants in Dangratoli and Lalpur areas. On March 21, samples of sweet shops and restaurants in RIMS, Kachari Road, and Main Road and on March 22 in Kanke Road were tested.

During this time, the food items that failed the test were destroyed and a notice was served to the concerned establishment. The team also conducted physical inspection of 90 food packets regarding expiry date.
