DC Jha reviews child welfare initiatives, directs stronger measures for care, protection

Bokaro: Deputy Commissioner Ajay Nath Jha chaired a meeting of the Sponsorship and Foster Care Approval Committee at the Collectorate on Monday, reviewing the current status of various residential and non-residential child care units operating under the District Child Protection Unit.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Development Commissioner Shatabdi Majumdar, Assistant Director of Social Security Piyush, District Public Relations Officer Ravi Kumar, Assistant PRO Avinash Kumar Singh, Child Protection Officer Anita Jha, CWC members, and CDPO-cum-CO representatives.

Jha said that every child represents a promise and hope, not a mere number, and the administration must ensure that each one lives in safety, health, and happiness.

Under the “Bichhdo Ko Hum Milate Hain” campaign, he directed officials to coordinate with the Child Welfare Committee to reunite children from Andhra Pradesh and Ranchi with their families. “No child should be deprived of affection and belonging,” he said, stressing that every child deserves a secure home environment.

The DC instructed that children residing at Sahyog Village, Sanprekshan Grih, and Manav Seva Ashram be engaged in sports and creative competitions to support their overall physical and mental development. He also ordered mandatory health mapping of all children to ensure proper monitoring of nutrition and well-being.

On the issue of child marriage, Jha emphasized the need for coordinated action at administrative, social, and awareness levels to prevent such cases. He directed the Child Protection Officer to prepare a detailed proposal outlining preventive strategies and awareness initiatives.

Calling for integrated efforts among all departments, the DC said that the collective goal must be to improve children’s lives and involve them in positive community activities. “A child’s smile reflects our success,” he remarked, adding that their safety and happiness should remain the administration’s foremost priority.
