DC Bhajantri orders swift action, strict directives at public grievance hearing

Ranchi: Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate Manjunath Bhajantri held a public grievance hearing at the Collectorate, addressing a range of public issues with immediate action and firm administrative measures.

A mother’s emotional plea for her ailing daughter’s treatment drew an instant response from the DC, who contacted the Civil Surgeon on the spot. It was confirmed that treatment could be covered under the Ayushman Bharat scheme. On the DC’s instruction, the girl’s Ayushman card was issued immediately, and her treatment process began without delay.

The hearing saw a large turnout of citizens seeking redressal of grievances. Bhajantri directed officials to act promptly on every complaint and provide on-the-spot solutions wherever possible.

He ordered a show-cause notice against a sevika in Mandar block’s Banjhila Tola after women accused her of irregularities during verification and offering money to suppress complaints. The District Social Welfare Officer was directed to take action, while the Assistant Director of Social Security was asked to investigate related complaints under the Mahiya Samman Yojana.

In another case, the DC instructed show-cause notices against the Anagara Circle Officer and staff after the local mukhiya reported repeated inaction on correction of bank account details despite multiple applications.

A domestic violence case from Pithoria also reached the hearing, where a woman alleged that her husband had remarried and evicted her from home. With no response from police despite her complaint, the DC ordered stoppage of the chowkidar’s salary for negligence.

Addressing an academic grievance from a Bundu student, Bhajantri said that special cases involving minor discrepancies in age may be reviewed with permission from the Jharkhand Academic Council.
