CM Soren pays tribute to tribal heroes, launches ₹437 crore welfare projects in Bhognadih

Sahebganj: Chief Minister Hemant Soren, accompanied by MLA Kalpana Soren, participated in a grand ceremony held at the sacred land of Bhognadih on the occasion of the birth anniversary of tribal freedom fighters Sido and Kanhu Murmu. Paying floral tribute to the legendary martyrs, the Chief Minister addressed a large gathering and reiterated his government’s commitment to the empowerment of tribal, Dalit, and backward communities.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the present government is working tirelessly to provide economic, educational, and social strength to marginalised sections of society, which have historically been pushed to the periphery. He emphasised that the state’s tribal and indigenous communities have long been ignored and weakened politically and intellectually, but his government is now giving them priority and full dignity. Hemant Soren noted that their ancestors sacrificed their lives to defend their land, forests, and water, and now it is the government’s responsibility to carry forward their legacy by identifying their descendants and giving them the respect and rights they deserve.

The Chief Minister announced a major development boost for Sahibganj, Pakur and Godda districts with the inauguration and foundation laying of 507 schemes worth ₹437.85 crore. Of these, 361 schemes worth ₹213.99 crore were inaugurated, and foundation stones were laid for 147 schemes amounting to ₹223.86 crore. On this occasion, he also distributed assets worth ₹130.92 crore among 3.14 lakh beneficiaries and handed over appointment letters to selected candidates.

In his address, Soren emphasized that this is “Abua Sarkar” — a government of the people — and it is committed to empowering the poor, labourers, farmers and the backward classes. He recalled the hardships faced by the elderly in earlier regimes, where pension or ration card issues required repeated visits to government offices. In contrast, he stated, the current administration ensures timely delivery of pensions and services without bureaucratic hurdles. He highlighted that for the first time in Jharkhand’s history, government officers are visiting every panchayat to solve problems at the grassroots level.

On the subject of education, the Chief Minister mentioned significant progress under his leadership. He said that children from poor and marginalized families are now studying in Chief Minister Excellent Schools, which are being run on the CBSE pattern. A total of 80 such schools are operational, and they have witnessed massive interest from parents and students alike, with thousands appearing for entrance exams. He also referred to the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Munda Overseas Scholarship 2025, under which 25 deserving students are given financial aid every year to pursue higher education abroad. According to the Chief Minister, these initiatives reflect his government’s commitment to making education more modern, inclusive, and effective.

The event in Bhognadih saw the participation of several dignitaries including Member of Parliament Vijay Kumar Hansda, MLAs Hemlal Murmu, Kalpana Soren, Mohammad Tajuddin, and Dhananjay Soren, along with Zilla Parishad Chairperson Monica Kisku, Santhal Pargana Commissioner Lalchand Dadel, IG Kranti Kumar Gadidesi, and the Deputy Commissioners and SPs of Sahibganj, Pakur, and Godda. Together, they joined in honouring the legacy of Sido and Kanhu and reaffirmed their support for the state’s vision of inclusive growth and empowerment.
