CM directs to develop pipeline system to make water reaches fields

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren directed the officials to complete the irrigation projects in the state within a fixed timeline.

Chairing a review meeting of the Water Resources Department he asked the officials to realise the projects related to irrigation on ground. He said that there was tremendous opportunities in the area of farming in the state and increasing the productivity of the farmers of the state is priority for the state government and suggested to develop a pipeline system to provide water in the fields. He asked the water resources department to provide water in the fields on time.

He said that in many areas of the state there are mines and in the mines there was huge quantity of water. He said that the water stored in the mines can be used for lift irrigation and it can be also used for drinking water supply.

The Chief Minister also reviewed the progress in execution of Konar irrigation project and asked the officials to get forest clearance for the project. He said that for the project land acquisition should be completed and tender process be completed. He said that Punasi reservoir project is important for Deoghar and asked officials to speed up the work under the project.

The Chief Minister said that work for Gumani Barrage should be started next year as after the start of the project irrigation facility will be available on 16,000 hectares of land. He also directed the officials to complete the lining works at all the canals and as per the need of the people Kuccha road be constructed.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to prepare a data of check dams of the state regarding the works which have been completed and work which was still pending. He said that construction of check dams in the state is being done by Agriculture department, forest department and Mnrega therefore all the departments should work in coordination.

He directed the officials to form a sub committee to make changes in the Swarnarekha Multipurpose project. He said that the funds from the project can be used for other works. He also instructed the officials to undertake the repair of damaged areas of Chandil Dam. He said that such irrigation projects which have zero utility be closed. He asked the officials to prepare a list of such projects by March next year.

Chief Secretary Sukhdeo Singh, Development Commissioner KK Khandelwal and others were present on the occasion.
