Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren has approved a proposal received from Dr Ramdayal Muda Tribal Welfare Research Institute related to inclusion of various sub castes of Bhuyiaan community in Scheduled Caste category and the same proposal would be forwarded to the Social Justice and Empowerment Ministry.
The research Institute in its report has pointed that as part of regional survey it emerged that Kshtriye, Paik, Khandit Paik Kotwar Pradhan, Manjhi, Dehri Kshtriye, Khandit Bhuyiaan, Gadahi/Gahri are part of Bhuiyaan caste.
On the basis of land archives it has emerged that these sub castes live in South Chottanagpur and are spread in the districts of Ranchi Khunti Gumla Simdega, East and West Singhbhum and Saraikela districts and they have originated from Bhuiyaan caste.
The report has further pointed that there was also no need to transfer the caste from SC to ST category. It has stated that the main reason for educational backwardness of these castes was that they are economically, educationally and socially backward. Further these castes are also not listed under any list of the SC caste of the central and state list.
The report has said that it can be considered that these sub castes can be included in Bhuyiaan caste. The proposal has been accepted by the Chief Minister and now it will be sent to the social justice and empowerment ministry for further action.
