Chief Minister reviews preparations for Covid-19 vaccination and cold storage facilities

Ranchi: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday chaired a high level meeting with the officials during which he reviewed the preparations for Covid-19 vaccination and cold storage facilities for the vaccines.

He asked the officials to make preparations in advance so that successfully the vaccination drive can be conducted in the state. He instructed the officials to establish coordination with all the departments, private health institutions and also identify vaccination spots and make availability of trained human resource alongwith other necessary facilities.

Principal Secretary of the Health Department Dr Nitin Madan Kulkarni informed the Chief Minister that on January 8 across all the districts a dry run will be organised for the Corona vaccine. Earlier also in six districts 375 volunteers were identified as sucessful dry run was completed.

He said that for vaccination and storage in cold chains at the state level a management committee under the Chief Secretary while at the district level under the DCs the district level management committee had been formed. Further the inspection of cold chain points by the DCs was in its last stage.

Priority has been outlined for the vaccination drive in the state as part of which in the beginning 1.5 lakh health workers will be given the Corona vaccine which also includes Anganwadi sevikas. After them the central and state police jawans, armed forces, home guards, jail staff, disaster management coordinators, municipality staff and officials of revenue department will be given the vaccine for their role as frontline workers for which two lakh beneficiaries have been identified.

Next in the line are citizens above 50 years old whose number are 62.97 lakh and another 33.42 lakh people who are battling diseases like diabetes, high blood pressure, cancer and lung ailments will be given the vaccine.

In the entire state 275 vaccine storage facilities have been set up which included one at the state and two at regional levels. Apart from that in all 24 districts 1 and in 248 community healthcare centre vaccine storage facilities have been set up while process for training of vaccinators was on.

The person who will be given the vaccine will also be provided digital vaccination certificate. Principal Secretary of Health Department said that for interested beneficiaries health identity cards will be made and post vaccination arrangements for tracing and reporting unusual incidents had been also made.
