Chawal Diwas will be organized to provide backlog food grains to ration card holders

Ranchi: Rice Day will be organized in the coming days to provide backlog food grains to the ration card holders in the capital Ranchi. In the review meeting of food supply, Deputy Commissioner Ranchi Rahul Kumar Sinha gave necessary directions to the concerned officials regarding this. District Supply Officer, authorized representatives of FCI, Block Supply Officer and Marketing Officer were present in the meeting organized in the Deputy Commissioner Auditorium located at Block A of the collectorate.

During the meeting he reviewed the foodgrains being provided to the ration card holders in the last months under the National Food Security Act and Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana. The Deputy Commissioner asked the FCI the reason for not getting proper quantity of food grains in the district for the last two months.

The authorized representative of FCI has assured that the backlog of food grains will be supplied in the next 15 days. During the meeting, he directed to ensure 100 percent offtake through doorstep delivery as soon as the backlog foodgrains become available in all the ration shops.

Along with this, all the ration dealers were directed to organize Rice Day for the distribution of food grains every day as well as backlog food grains distribution in 15 days. He said that Rice Day should be organized on 15th and 25th of the month. He also asked to publicize Rice Day in a good way. For Rice Day, deputation of supervisors from the block level will be done in all the ration shops. During the meeting, Deputy Commissioner said that all the ration dealers should show on the notice board of their shop which month’s ration is available with them and for which month’s backlog ration card holders can get now.

Apart from the distribution of food grains, the Sona Sobran Dhoti Sari Lungi scheme was also reviewed by the Deputy Commissioner in the meeting. This year again all the card holders are being given the annual benefit of the scheme. The District Supply Officer said that 47 percent distribution has been done so far.

This month all the ration card holders were directed by the Deputy Commissioner to ensure the benefits of the scheme. In the Ranchi district, those ration card holders who have not lifted food grains for a long time have been identified. It was told by the District Supply Officer that there are more than 34 thousand such ration card holders in the district who have not lifted food grains for 6 months and more than 12 thousand such ration card holders who have not lifted food grains for 1 year.

It was directed by the Deputy Commissioner to cancel such ration cards so that the benefits could be given to the eligible beneficiaries due to more vacancies. Those ration card holders who have got their ration card made at more than one place were also directed to be verified and cancelled by the Deputy Commissioner. Aadhaar seeding is being done for all the members
of each ration card in the district.

In the Ranchi district, about 99 percent Aadhaar seeding has been done, due to which duplication is coming to the fore. While reviewing the petrol subsidy, the Deputy Commissioner directed all the ration dealers to motivate the people in their respective areas for the petrol subsidy scheme.

The Deputy Commissioner said that the ration card holder should be registered for the benefit of the scheme, now registration can also be done for the benefit of the scheme from the e-posh machine available with the dealer.
