Case of conspiracy against officers and threatening witnesses, ED submits report to High Court

Ranchi: ED on Thursday submitted a sealed report to the Jharkhand High Court in the case of conspiracy to implicate officers and threatening witnesses by money laundering accused lodged in Birsa Munda jail of Ranchi. After seeing the report, the bench of Chief Justice Sanjay Kumar Mishra asked the ED whether it could share it with the state government.

The court has asked the ED to file a counter-affidavit in this regard on the next hearing date. The next hearing in this case will be on December 15. Earlier, during the hearing on a PIL on November 7, the High Court had sought a sealed report in this case from the ED.

ED had said in the application given in PMLA court that some accused who are in jail in a money laundering case are conspiring to implicate ED officers in false cases and cause harm to them. ED says that the accused of money laundering are also in contact with Naxalites and criminals to harm their officers. Its complete report was sent to the Union Home Ministry.

In view of this application given in the court, ED was given permission to raid the jail on November 3. During this time, the agency had seized some CCTV footage of the jail and the mobile phone of Danish, the head clerk of the jail.

Investigation revealed that Danish was threatening witnesses of money laundering through mobile. Numbers of many witnesses and recordings of conversations have been found in his mobile.
